Since 1997, Villa Sinfonia has been holding its Chamber Music Camp at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on the south-east side of Lake Tahoe. In keeping with the philosophy of Villa Sinfonia, our Camp offers musicians of nearly all ages and levels the opportunity to study and perform chamber music alongside more experienced students, amateurs, and professional musicians. Students play in ensembles with their coaches (unless they come to camp as a pre-formed ensemble) with each group performing at least twice during the week. Parents with younger children can enjoy a week at Lake Tahoe, filled with music, fun, and friends.
In 2011, Villa Sinfonia will again offer two weeks of camp. Session 1 is reserved for advanced players only, with more time for rehearsing larger works, practicing, and sight-reading. Session 2 is for players from Suzuki Book I through the very advanced. Less experienced performers will have one chamber ensemble in the morning and chamber orchestra in the afternoon. More advanced players will have 2 small ensembles.
Last year the repertoire ranged from early Mozart quartets to quartets by Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, and Shostakovich.
